What is Hot Barre?
Barre began in the 1950s with German dancer Lotte Berk, who blended ballet technique with physical therapy.
Over time, it evolved into an accessible, full-body workout suitable for beginners and experienced movers alike.
If you are new to Barre, our instructors will guide you with clarity and care.
What does a Barre workout include?
A Barre session is full-body, strength-focused and low-resistance.
Expect high repetitions and micro-movements known as pulses
These small, steady movements work deep muscles that other exercises often overlook until they fatigue
The repetitive focus also builds mind-body connection and controlled stability
We also use props to add variation.
These include the barre itself, light weights and small balls
Each helps target specific areas such as the core, glutes and legs
Keeps sessions fresh
What are the benefits of Barre?
Here are seven key areas that Barre can improve:
✔ Strength
✔ Endurance
✔ Posture
✔ Balance
✔ Flexibility
✔ Injury recovery
✔ Mind-body connection
What is the “hot” in Hot Barre?
Our Hot Barre studios in Clydebank and Dalmarnock use infrared heat. Classes run at 38–45 degrees. Exercising at this temperature can encourage:
greater comfort in stretching and range of motion
increased circulation
higher calorie burn
improved focus and mental clarity
Because heat can make you feel more flexible, it is important to move mindfully.
Hydrate before, during and after class, and avoid overstretching.
With awareness, the heat enhances Barre’s core benefits and supports strength, muscle sculpting and a sense of being centred and restored.
