What Is Hot MaT Pilates?
Hot Mat Pilates blends traditional mat-based Pilates with the restorative benefits of infrared heat. Performed in a heated room (around 38–45°), this mindful, full-body practice strengthens your core, improves posture and promotes calm through controlled movement and breath.
The warmth helps loosen muscles, deepen flexibility, and boost circulation — allowing you to move with greater ease and precision. Research shows that Pilates can reduce stress and cortisol levels, while the added heat supports recovery, joint mobility, and overall well-being.
Each session strengthens from the inside out, restoring balance and confidence as your energy rises and your mind settles.
What Is the ‘Mat’ IN HOT MAT Pilates?
The ‘mat’ is where the magic happens.
Unlike Reformer Pilates, which uses a spring-loaded machine, Mat Pilates relies on your own body weight to build strength, stability, and control. Movements flow through precise, low-impact sequences that engage your core, lengthen muscles, and improve posture.
In Hot Mat Pilates, this same mindful foundation is practised in an infrared-heated room, allowing your muscles to warm naturally and move with greater freedom. Props such as light weights, resistance bands, or Pilates rings may be added to deepen the challenge and enhance alignment Hot Pilates Research.
The simplicity of the mat keeps your focus inward — on breath, balance, and form — making it an ideal starting point for beginners and a grounding return for experienced practitioners.
At The Holistic Warehouse, in both our Glasgow Pilates studios, the mat isn’t just equipment — it’s your space to connect, strengthen and restore.

Hot Mat Pilates at our Glasgow Studios
— HEat OUTSIDE, Strength Within
Mat Pilates is the heart of our hot practice — simplicity, focus and mindful movement, elevated by invigorating infrared heat.
Using only your body, breath and the mat beneath you, it builds deep core strength, balance and postural awareness while the warmth enhances flexibility, circulation and ease of movement.
Research shows that Pilates supports stress reduction and mental clarity, while heat helps loosen muscles, improve range of motion and promote recovery. Each class moves at a calm, deliberate rhythm — encouraging precision, control and presence over speed or strain.
As your body strengthens and your breath deepens, the warmth invites a sense of release — helping you leave class feeling grounded, centred and quietly strong.
