5 Benefits of Hot Yoga (and Why It’s Growing Across Our Glasgow Studios)
Key Takeaways
Improves how you feel and function, not just how you perform.
Builds focus and consistency through guided movement.
Supports a more balanced approach to strength, mobility and overall health.
In our Glasgow studios, Hot Yoga is becoming increasingly popular. More of our members are making it an integral part of their movement routine.
Hot Yoga is a form of yoga performed in an infrared-heated room (38–45°C). It is suitable for most fitness levels, but, like all exercise, it is important to practise safely.
This shift towards heated yoga reflects growing interest in a practice that supports both physical and mental health, as research in Sports Medicine and related journals suggests.
Here are five key benefits.
1. Improves Overall Well-being
Why it matters
Well-being is not just about how you feel but how you function day to day.
What research suggests
Hot yoga has been shown to improve life satisfaction, general health, mindfulness and overall well-being.
In practice
Often felt as a steadier sense of balance over time.
2. Supports Positive Mood
Why it matters
How you experience something in the moment shapes whether you come back to it.
What research suggests
Hot yoga is associated with increasing positive emotions, particularly during and after classes. These changes help explain improvements in overall well-being.
In practice
You may leave class feeling lighter, clearer and more centred.
3. Enhances Focus and Mental Clarity
Why it matters
Attention is easily fragmented. Practices that stabilise it are increasingly valuable.
What research suggests
Hot yoga has been shown to improve mindfulness, supporting greater focus and awareness of the present moment.
In practice
It becomes easier to stay focused, both in class and beyond.
4. Builds Strength, Mobility and Balance
Why it matters
Sustainable movement depends on strength and control, not just flexibility.
What research suggests
Regular hot yoga practice can improve flexibility, balance and strength.
In practice
You build strength through controlled movement, without high impact.
5. Supports Long-term Physical Health
Why it matters
Movement should support your health over time, not just short-term fitness.
What research suggests
Hot yoga is associated with improvements in key markers of physical health, including heart health and body composition, when practised consistently.
In practice
It becomes part of a steady, sustainable routine that supports overall health.
What to Expect from Hot Yoga at Our Studios
At our Glasgow studios, hot yoga classes take place in infrared-heated rooms, typically between 38–45°C. The heat is consistent and controlled, creating an environment that supports focus and steady movement.
Classes are structured and instructor-led. You’re guided through a sequence of postures, with a pace that allows you to move with your breath and rest when needed.
You don’t need prior experience. Many of our members start with little or no background in yoga and build familiarity over time.
We encourage a measured approach. This includes staying hydrated, listening to your body and taking breaks when needed.
Hot yoga may not be suitable for everyone. At our studios, we advise that if you are pregnant, have a cardiovascular condition, or have any underlying health concerns, you seek medical advice before taking part.
All of our instructors are fully certified and guide you safely, helping you build confidence in your practice over time.
