Lagree for Beginners in Glasgow: What to Expect at Your First Class
We will guide you all the way at our licensed Lagree studio in Glasgow.
New to Lagree?
You don’t need to know how it works before you arrive.
Lagree is high-intensity, low-impact strength training. It uses slow, controlled movement and time under tension. This builds strength and muscular endurance without jumping or other high-impact movement.
At THW, you’ll use a Mini Pro machine. It might look unfamiliar at first. That’s expected. But after your first class, things will feel clearer.
Is Lagree for beginners?
Yes. You don’t need previous Lagree experience to start.
Lagree is challenging, especially at first. But you work at a pace you can control. And your teacher will guide you throughout the class.
You’ll understand more each time you come back.
Before your first class
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Bring grip socks. You’ll need them to use the Mini Pro.
The Mini Pro is the Lagree machine you’ll use throughout class. It has a moving carriage, platforms and adjustable resistance. Together, they create the tension you’ll work against during each movement.
If it’s your first visit to THW Tradeston, give yourself a little extra time before class. We also have free on-site parking. This makes getting here a little more straightforward.
When you arrive
Let your teacher know it’s your first Lagree class.
They’ll talk you through the Mini Pro and explain what you need to know before you start.
And they’ll continue to guide you as the class moves.
What the class feels like
Lagree moves slowly, but it doesn’t feel easy.
A class lasts 45 minutes. You’ll work through controlled movements with short transitions between them. The slower pace keeps your muscles working for longer. This is where much of the challenge comes from.
You may feel your muscles shake during some movements. That’s normal when they’re working hard.
You don’t need to keep up
If you need to slow down, pause or reset, you can.
The aim isn’t to match the person beside you.
Move well, stay in control and work at a level that feels manageable for you.
Your first class isn’t a test
We don't expect you to know the movements or understand every cue straight away.
Your first class is about getting used to Lagree. The machine, movements and transitions will feel more natural with practice.
You may feel tired afterwards, and your muscles may feel worked in a way that’s different from other classes.
Don’t judge your first class by how much you managed to do. Getting used to Lagree takes time.
